The Team, October 2023

First in a new series of insider guides from our reservations team, Ross tells us about the best ski resorts he's visited - and those he's yet to experience...

Where did you ski last year?

I was lucky enough to visit Banff for the first time. I was worried that my expectations were a little inflated, but never has a resort delivered as much as Banff did. The amazing skiing coupled with being in the heart of the Canadian wilderness is hard to beat and the view down Bow Valley is one that I’ll never forget.

Where do you plan to ski this coming winter?

I’m really excited to go back to Flaine. I was a lot younger the last time I was there and, while I had a great holiday, my memory of the resort isn’t as clear as I’d like it to be. Luckily, after suggesting we book an apartment at Residences Les Terrasses d’Eos, my friends didn’t take much convincing to come along!

Which resort do you keep going back to?

For me, all roads eventually lead back to Whistler. I’ve spent a lot of time there since my first holiday in 2017, both through this job and my time instructing there. Whistler never falls short of feeling incredibly special and long may it continue.

Are there any resorts still on your bucket list?

I’ve always been very keen to visit Verbier. I’ve not done a huge amount of skiing in Switzerland (something I’d like to change) and Verbier has always had the best reviews from people I know.

Where did you have your best ever ski holiday?

It’s a tough choice but I’d have to say Tremblant. This was my first time visiting Canada, and I had no idea how much the country would influence my adult life! It was great to visit Montreal on this trip as well - seeing the Formula 1 track was certainly my highlight.
